VWA Committees

VWA has seven standing committees. Our committees work in conjunction with other committees, the VWA Board, and staff to support the mission of the association. We welcome participation by any of our members to serve on any of the committees listed below. Email us for more information or to sign up.

Education Committee  Provides direction on educational elements of the association’s meetings and conferences.
Marketing Committee  The Marketing Committee of the Virginia Wineries Association exists to support and empower Virginia wineries in their marketing efforts. We serve as a resource by providing trainings, sharing best practices, and facilitating access to helpful tools and insights. Acting as a liaison between our member wineries and the Virginia Wine Board Marketing Office, we work to ensure alignment between winery needs and statewide marketing strategies. Our goal is to strengthen the visibility, voice, and success of the Virginia wine industry through collaboration and communication.
Governor’s Cup® Committee
Reviews the methodology of the Governor’s Cup® Competition; provides direction on the Governor’s Cup® Celebration.
Membership Committee
Identifies issues of importance to current and potential members of the association; works to enhance the value of membership; and reviews and approves applications of potential Preferred Partners.
Nominating Committee  Suggests nominees of VWA Annual Awards, slate of officers and board members.
Research & Technical Committee   Meets to prepare winemaking technical programming for the Annual Meeting & Conference and the Ask the Expert event series.
Legislative Committee Identifies issues of importance to Virginia wineries; adopts the VWA Legislative Policy; provides direction on ongoing issues to the VWA Legislative Board.  Legislative Board  The Legislative Board is made up of appointed representatives from the VA Wineries Association and the VA Vineyards Association. This group was created to tackle the hurdles the Virginia wine & grape industry faces in and out of Legislative Session. Anne Leigh Kerr of Kerr Government Strategies represents the VWA at the General Assembly. The Legislative Board is supported through dues and donations from the VVA and VWA paid annually.
